Scholarship Program

The Trauma Survivors Foundation provides firefighters, police and EMS with scholarships to attend ICISF (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation)  approved training classes and will provide emergency services personnel with necessary funding to become crisis interventionists through training courses.  


Training

The Trauma Survivors Foundation will train emergency service personnel to provide crisis intervention when a traumatic event occurs. Our goal is to train emergency service personnel to enhance careers as peer support interventionists.

The Ethics of Critical Incident Response

Date:    August 1, 2015
Time:   9:00 AM - 4:00 PM 
Place:  Delaware State Fire School | 1461 Chestnut Grove Road, Dover, DE

Program Description:  During this one day interactive course, the participant will learn the ethics involved in responding to a traumatic event while performing crisis intervention. Participants will gain an understanding of ethical decision making while building a framework for ethical responses.  Participants will learn the definition and origins of Ethical Codes and Principles along with developing how ethics and laws coincide with one another.  Participants will also gain an understanding of confidentiality as it pertains to crisis response.  Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss how their own professional and personal morals, values, and ethics integrate into work and home life.

 

Critical Incident Response for Suicide

Date:    August 2, 2015
Time:   9:00 AM - 4:00 PM 
Place:  Delaware State Fire School | 1461 Chestnut Grove Road, Dover, DE

Program Description:  This one day course was designed to help participants to gain an understanding of how to respond to individual who is contemplating suicide.  The participant will learn the different types of suicide and the reasoning behind suicide.  The participants will gain knowledge about the escalation of the suicidal person along with basic de-escalation skills. Participants will learn the “warning signs” of suicide and how these signs relate to traumatic incidents. Participants will also gain an understanding of crisis communication as it pertains to suicide. 
 
This course is designed for anyone in the fields of Business & Industry Crisis Intervention, Disaster Response, Education, Emergency Services, Employee Assistance, Healthcare, Homeland Security, Mental Health, Military, Spiritual Care, and Traumatic Stress.
